Agronomy Update — April 9, 2026

Bunker Renovation Progress

We’re in the final stretch of Phase 1 of the bunker renovation project. Hole 16 is our final focus until work resumes in October 2026. The construction team has started shaping the fairway bunkers and removing the moguls on the first half of the hole.

  • Friday–Tuesday: Rough shaping began on both fairway bunkers, along with mogul removal.
  • Tuesday: The team sodded the left side of the 16th green.
  • Wednesday: Joel was on site to collaborate with Luis, our head shaper, on fine-tuning the first bunker and reviewing the design vision for the second.
  • Thursday: Drainage and gravel installation began in the first bunker. The crew also prepped the beginning of the fairway for two truckloads of sod and rough-shaped the second bunker for Joel’s review Friday morning.

The green surrounds and approaches on holes 13 and 14 continue to fill in nicely. On Friday, Santiago solid-tine aerified both areas, followed by Daniel with a 2-ton roller to help smooth the surfaces. The team mowed all surrounding turf on Monday, and on Thursday we applied a heavy sand topdressing to both approaches—brushing it into the canopy to further smooth and firm the playing surface.

On the Course

We’re nearly back to our regular mowing schedule across the greens and other key areas. The team has also been focusing on several course detail and repair projects:

  • Clubhouse area: William has been repairing cobblestones damaged during the clubhouse renovation near the corner of tennis courts 6 and 7.

  • 4th tee: Jose, Rafael, and Laz are replacing the brick path with stone, which will be treated with Better Billy Bunker material on Saturday.

  • Tennis courts: Daniel and Santiago repaired two broken irrigation lines under courts 1–3 that were damaged during the installation of the new light poles.

  • Tennis pavilion: Alvaro removed surface roots in preparation for sod installation scheduled for Friday.

  • Drainage hole 16: with changes to 16 we had a new wet spot develop next to the cart so we took the opportunity to fix it while the hole was close.
