Bunker Renovation Update
It’s been another productive week on the course! The
construction team are wrapping up the finishing touches around the 16th
green, including the surround bunkers, approach, and fairway.
- Saturday–Monday: Drainage
and gravel were installed.
- Wednesday: The
Better Billy Bunker liner was sprayed, and 20,000 sq. ft. of sod was
laid just before 0.6 inches of rain arrived.
- Thursday: Crews
placed 100 tons of sand in four of the seven bunkers.
- Friday,
April 3: We’ll install an additional 10,000 sq. ft. of bentgrass
sod on the 16th fairway.
The green surround on 16 is expected to be
completed by Wednesday, April 8. Next, they will remove the pot bunkers on
the first half of the fairway, replace them with two larger bunkers, and expand
the fairway on the right side of the hole.
Our irrigation team also stayed busy this week,
relocating 60 feet of irrigation pipe and two rough heads that ran under
one of the new fairway bunker on 16. The work took two days and allowed us to
pressurize the irrigation system by Wednesday, ensuring the new sod could be
watered.

Rough Aerification
We also checked a big spring task off the list this
week: rough aerification. With the dry weather early in the week,
conditions were perfect for pulling cores to relieve compaction and reduce
thatch. After aerifying, we dragged the cores to break them up, then vacuumed
what was left to keep the rough clean and healthy as we move into the growing
season.
