Belle Haven Country Club
Agronomy Update — May 1, 2026
Bunker Renovation Update
The Golf Green Committee is pleased to announce that holes 13, 14, and 16
have officially reopened following a 48-day closure for bunker renovations.
To ensure the long-term success of this project, carts will remain
restricted on these holes for the time being while the newly installed sod
continues to establish. We kindly ask all members to avoid walking on bunker
faces throughout the course, especially on holes 13 and 16, where the sod is
still in the early stages of rooting. Foot traffic on these slopes can damage
the turf and impact on the overall quality and longevity of the renovation.
You may also notice some discoloration in the rough on holes 13 and 16.
This is a result of high temperatures (approximately 92°F) on the day of
installation, which placed stress on the sod and temporarily depleted its
energy reserves. Most areas are expected to recover naturally; however, any
sections that do not improve will be resodded.
Course Operations
With a shortened work week due to the Belle Haven 4-Ball, our primary
focus was preparing the golf course for tournament play.
A common question we receive is: What do we do differently when
hosting a tournament?
The answer is—less than you might think. While we may roll greens an extra day
or two to enhance playing conditions, the most significant adjustment is our
schedule. This week, the team began work at 5:30 a.m. to ensure all course
preparation was completed ahead of play.
To support our busy golf calendar, this earlier start time will remain in
place through October.
Member Support
Maintaining high-quality playing conditions is a shared effort, and we
greatly appreciate the membership’s continued support. You can help us by:
- Filling and
replacing divots
- Repairing ball
marks on greens
- Properly
disposing of trash
- Following all
posted cart rules
These small actions make a meaningful difference in the daily condition
and long-term health of the golf course.
