Agronomy Update - August 27, 2026

Bermuda Grass Program

Earlier this week, on Monday, we inspected each fairway to identify any skips in our Bermuda grass treatment. To improve visibility during application, we added green dye, which helped us clearly see the areas that were treated.

We are also beginning to see Poa germinating in some of the treated areas. This is a normal seasonal response, as Poa seed can remain viable in the soil for many years.

This week, our turf consultant, Steve McDonald, visited to review the progress of the program so far. Based on his recommendations, we will be making a few adjustments moving forward. Our next herbicide application is scheduled for Monday, August 31, when we will treat the larger areas using our GPS sprayer. This application will consist of Roundup only, as we will be removing Fusilade from the mix. This adjustment is being made because Fusilade may interfere with sod rooting as we prepare for the next phase of the project.

The fairway sodding project is scheduled to begin the week of September 14. In advance of that work, we are coordinating a meeting with the county to review the erosion and sediment control measures that will be installed around the 15th fairway bunker. The first area scheduled for sod installation will be Hole 1, and we will continue to share updates as the project gets closer.

We also appreciate everyone's cooperation with the current cart restrictions. We know these limitations can be frustrating, but they are necessary to protect vulnerable areas of the golf course. Sections with dead turf can become slick and unstable, particularly on slopes, and traffic in those areas can quickly cause additional damage. Please use extra caution when walking on affected hillsides.

Course Operations

In other course operations this week, fairways received a preventive fungicide application, and the rough received its second Pylex herbicide treatment as part of our ongoing Bermuda grass suppression program.
