Bermuda Grass & Bunker Project
Bunkers
We had a very productive week, with work on holes 11 and 12
now complete. On Monday the crew installed drainage and gravel in three bunkers
on 11 and finished shaping the bunker on 12, and on Tuesday a load of sod went
down to finish the approach on 11. On Wednesday the bunkers on 11 and 12 were
sprayed, and on Thursday sand was placed in them. In all, three loads of sod
were delivered this week.

Starting Tuesday and wrapping up Thursday, the construction
crew installed erosion and sediment control around the 10th green, the 18th
fairway bunker and the 18th green, and by Thursday afternoon the county had
approved us to begin work. By Friday afternoon, two fairway bunkers on 18 had
been rough shaped along with the right greenside bunker on 10. The construction
crew will be on site Saturday in preparation for a site visit by Joel on
Monday.

The dead Bermuda grass spots on the 12th fairway are now
complete, leaving only the 2nd, 5th and 18th fairways to finish.
Looking ahead, the construction crew will complete the
right-side bunker on 10 and three of the fairway bunkers on 18 next week.
Course Operations
On Tuesday and Wednesday, we aerified the greens on the
course and in the Short Game area. An outside contractor was on site to DryJect
the greens, a process that uses a specialized aerifier to inject sand into the
green under high-pressure water. It dilutes the top two inches of organic
matter and leaves a firmer putting surface, and it typically means another 24
to 30 tons of sand injected into the greens. Once the DryJect was finished, we
went behind it with ½-inch solid tines to open additional holes and sweep the
excess sand left on the surface. The crew then brushed the greens, followed by
a 2-ton roller and a final roll with our regular greens roller. The whole
process took us three days to complete.

Our robotic mower is back in service, mowing the rough on
the 9th hole. We a looking at introducing more this units next Spring.
Next week we will hydroseed the native grass areas around
the course that we are renovating this year. We are going to do this in house
and will be renting a machine.
